The protagonist walks away having learned several life lessons but the viewer (Or rather in this viewers case) it felt more empty than it should have. The films construction is my biggest grip, it comes across more like a Behind the Music episode than an actual movie. The construction of a movie is simple, you need a beginning a middle and an end and Rock Star has that but in a rather disjointed way. ![]() It's big, it's stylish and to my knowledge it's pretty damn accurate so why am I not rating this higher? I like the cast, I'm an old school rocker myself and on paper this should be a guaranteed tick in the win column from me. As you'd imagine being a movie about classic/glam rock the soundtrack is fantastic, right up there among the best of them though shatter any illusions you may have that it was Wahlberg singing. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Jennifer Aniston, Timothy Spall and Timthy Olyphant it certainly doesn't lack star power. Rock Star tells the story of the lead singer of a tribute band who get's to live out his dreams on a much grander stage. He might be an ass 99% of the time for all I know, but when people say they don't like him, I always feel I should share this story as I had the exact opposite encounter with him.Reviewed by Platypuschow 6 / 10 Rock Star: I should have liked this more He was just a regular guy and of the many famous people I have met over the years a standout as one of the nicest ones. We talked about music and being in Toronto for a little while longer and that was it. He apologized to me for that and then asked if he could buy me a coke from the vending machine. ![]() "Geezus, Mark says, let him go, we're just talking. We chatted for a bit and out of nowhere this guy comes flying in and grabs me, I am sorry Mr. I aplogized and he said "don't sweat it with a big laugh", "That's going to stick for a long time" He explained he was recording a song for the movie The Big Hit. He replied angrily, don't ever call me that. I said, holy crap, Marky Mark, what are you doing here? Many years ago I was at Metalworks Studio and walked past an open room with Mark standing there. Since this swayed to Wahlberg as a person. ![]()
